BIOGRAPHY
The Womens Institue, Wilmslow, was named Fulshaw WI and formed in June 2006 by enthusiasts Nicky Storer, Julie Lucas and Justine Birchall. The trio was later joined by Jan Grannan.
Why the WI?
Nicky, inspired by a newspaper article she read at 35,000 ft on a WI in the south of England, was encouraged to create a gathering for like minded women in her local community. She hung up her crew bag, having been an air stewardess for 17 years and set about creating interest among friends in her local village of Wilmslow, Cheshire.
Opening night, 19 June 2006 was a roaring success with over 80 ladies attending, all eager to see what was on offer. Since then, we have learnt, laughed and been entertained by a variety of speakers from butlers to bakers and on subjects from hats to hormones.
If you would like to join us then the WI allows you to visit us twice then on your third visit you are asked to join by downloading the following membership form enclosing the annual membership of £30 (this fee is split three ways, Fulshaw WI, CFWI and NFWI each receive an amount)Fulshaw WI charge a £3 entrance fee on the night and this covers a welcome drink, the hire of the hall and the speaker, within reason. You will also be invited to enjoy a cup of tea and cake, hopefully homemade, after our guest speaker. Not bad value for money I say! fulshawmembershipform2011
